Complaint/Grievance Process

As a client of the Center, you have a right to be heard on any complaints, which you may have. You are encouraged to let us know your thoughts on any problems you are having or have experienced while in treatment. Client's opinions and recommendations are important and can be expressed directly to your Counselor either verbally or in writing. Grievance procedures shall be posted in client areas. If you believe any rights have been compromised on your behalf, in any way, then you may process your complaint as follows:

  1. You are encouraged to resolve any problems by presenting them in writing to your Primary Counselor. If it is not resolved to your satisfaction at this level, then you should present your concerns in writing to the Assistant Facility Director of Clinical (AFDC).

  2. If the Assistant Facility Director of Clinical is unable to resolve the issue with you or is part of the issue, you then have the right to appeal this decision to the Clinical Director.

  3. If the Clinical Director is unable to resolve the issue with you, or is part of the issue, you then have the right to appeal this decision to the President of Southeast Missouri Community Treatment Center, which is the parent organization of the alcohol/drug treatment center.

  4. You must present your concerns, in writing, to the President who, within five (5) working days, will render a decision regarding the matter of the concern to you after consulting with all parties involved in so far as deemed reasonable in his judgment.

  5. If you are dissatisfied with the decision of the President regarding the matter, you may appeal his decision to the Clients' Rights Monitor of the Department of Mental Health. The Clients' Rights Monitor will study the matter, consult with those parties it deems appropriate, and then issue a decision, which is final and binding on all parties.
